Featured Artist of the Quarter:
Cathie Hollins Cathie Hollins does not live in Tehachapi! A Central California Native, Cathie has lived in Las Vagas for over 14 years but is moving back to Central Cali December 2011. Sadly she is still not going to live in Tehachapi but in nearby (?) Fowler. She does visit us at Picture Perfect and that is how we found her.
Married for 33 years, with two grown children and 6 grand-children ranging in ages from 6 years to 16 years old, she and her husband have one very spoiled and loveable miniature schnauzer named Gunther.
Cathie has been creating scrapbooks since high school. Her early books were just a place to keep memorabilia and journaling. She started REALLY scrapping photos after the move to Las Vegas in 1997. She was compelled to capture the memories of the years spent there. Then she branched out. She now has several books going specifically one for her sons family, one for her daughters family, one of old family pictures of her husbands PLUS one just for herself. Whew!
Favorite techniques include vintage shabby looks. Cathie loves them! She likes to tear paper, ink, chalk, stamp. She also likes to try new techniques but tends to go back to her first love. Recently, Cathie started making cards and actually made Christmas cards this year.
Her other interests include a wide variety of crafting such as crochet, count cross stitch, tole paint, collage art, altered art projects. She loves to make mini books of quotes for people. She made one for herself recently, from a paper coffee cup and the cardboard cozy that came with it - it is full of quotes about coffee. She also makes a really mean bundt cake with cream cheese frosting piped on - in ribbons. :-) YUM!
Cathie Hollins enjoys creating handmade gifts for the people in her life. Hint to loved ones - she also loves receiving handmade gifts.
Cathie says she is excited to be moving back to California and being close to the people she loves. She also says she is addicted to patterned paper and discovered while packing up her scrapbook room that she has too much stuff and needs to use it up. We do not think anyone can have too much scrap stuff... Oh, and pink is her favorite color! Take a look at some of her pages below:
